Abstract
Molybdenum-99 production worldwide has traditionally been conducted using High-Enriched Uranium (HEU). In support of non-proliferation, there is a global movement towards the use of Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) for molybdenum-99 production and most major producers are committed to conversion.
This paper demonstrates the feasibility of LEU manufacture and outlines improvements made and benefits realized since the commissioning of ANSTO's molybdenum-99 processing facility in 2008.
