dc.description.abstractThe issue of security of radioactive sources had arisen as a result of incidents where people were unintentionally exposed in various parts of the world. However after 11 September 2001, the focus on security was intensified by concerns over those who might wish to use radioactive sources for malevolent purposes. This paper will discuss the questions of the type and nature of these concerns and outline a process for assessing the threat and then assigning security measures for sources. The paper is based on work done by the author while at the IAEA and published as part of IAEATecdoc-1355.en_AU
