| dc.description.abstract | Radiography is one of the principal non-destructive test methods used in industry. Its use is increasing as modern technology demands greater product reliability. Radioisotope sources enable the manufacture of relatively cheap, portable and sturdy equipment for industrial radiography. These machines are simple to operate and maintain, they provide economic radiographic facilities which have advantages for small industrial organisations and for operators in remote areas. If the best results are to be obtained from radiography, the work must be done by conscientious operators using suitable equipment, with techniques based on the principles of radiological physics. The purpose of this handbook is to describe good radiographic technique and discuss its principles. The five sections deal with General Principles of Radiography, Properties and Production of Radioisotopes, Radiographic Technique, Interpretation of Radiographs, and Radiation Protection. The last mentioned section refers to the various State and Commonwealth Regulations which are listed in the bibliography. | en_AU |
