dc.description.abstractFounded in 1992, Women in Nuclear Global (WiN Global) is an organisation that supports and encourages women working in nuclear and radiation applications. WiN has a number of objectives, one of the main ones being communication with the public, especially women and the younger generations, about the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, science and technology. WiN currently has approximately 35 000 members (women and men), with members from over 110 countries and various international organisations. WiN Australia Inc. (a chapter of WiN Global) was founded in 2005. Members work in a variety of fields including research, policy, defence, meteorology, reactor engineering and maintenance, reactor operations, medical physics, law, supporting roles, nuclear medicine and medical physics, mining, academia, regulation and safeguards. WiN Global holds an annual conference, and in 2017 this was held in Beijing, China. The presentation will provide an overview of this conference, specifically: - A summary of international nuclear power developments as detailed in the chapter reports presented at the conference - Interesting facts and figures from the technical streams - Details of the technical tour, which involved visiting two sites where 15 reactors of three different designs are currently being constructed.
