dc.description.abstractSynroc B powders have been prepared by a number of techniques, involving the hydrolysis of appropriate mixtures of organometalligfnd inorganic Ti, Zr and Al precursor compounds, and subsequent sorption of Ba and Ca cations under alkaline conditions. Chemical reactions occurring during hydrolysis and precipitation of the powders were characterised by various techcniques (conductivity, pH, etc.), and the physical properties of the resulting powders were examined by electron microscopy, mercury porosimetry, BET analysis, XRD and vibrational spectroscopy. The effect of processing method on the physical properties of the powders will be discussed. © The Authorsen_AU
