dc.description.abstractModern diagnostic techniques and the introduction of radiotherapy and chemotherapy have not improved the prognosis for certain cancers where life expectancy after diagnosis is less than 12 months. High grade brain tumours and metastatic melanoma to the brain fall into this category.
