Radionuclide bioaccumulation in trees at an Australian legacy low-level waste site: concentration patterns in branches and foliage

Abstract

We document radionuclide uptake and accumulation patterns in a range of tree species growing on and adjacent to a legacy low-level radioactive waste site known as Little Forest Burial Ground (LFBG) near Sydney, Australia. The LFBG provides a rare opportunity to quantify uptake in mature trees growing near, over, and sometimes interacting directly with buried wastes.
