- ItemNeutron diffraction study of NdCrGe3(Elsevier Science BV, 2013-01-01) Lemoine, P; Cadogan, JM; Slater, BR; Mar, A; Avdeev, MThe hexagonal perovskite (BaNiO3-type) structure of NdCrGe3 and its ferromagnetic order at T-C = 122 K have been confirmed by neutron powder diffraction measurements. The magnetic structure is characterized by an axial ferromagnetic arrangement of both the Cr and Nd sublattices below T-C. The relatively high Curie temperature of this compound is mainly driven by the magnetic ordering of the Cr sublattice with Nd-Cr magnetic interactions also playing a role. The magnetic ordering of the Nd sublattice, deduced from the thermal variation of the magnetic moments, occurs at around T approximate to 70 K. The absence of a spin reorientation of the Nd and Cr magnetic order allows us to conclude that the complex magnetic behaviour previously observed at low temperatures in macroscopic magnetic measurements is a consequence of strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy effects. © 2013, Elsevier Ltd.
- ItemNeutron diffraction study of the hexagonal perovskite-type compound LaCrGe3(Scientific.Net, 2012-11-01) Cadogan, JM; Lemoine, P; Slater, BR; Mar, A; Avdeev, MThe BaNiO3-type structure and the ferromagnetic order (TC = 78 K) of the Cr sublattice in LaCrGe3 have been confirmed by neutron powder diffraction measurements. At 20 K, the magnetic structure is collinear along the c axis with a Cr magnetic moment of 1.24(4) μB. Below 3 K, LaCrGe3 has a spin-canted ferromagnetic structure with a canting angle θ of 32(6) and a Cr magnetic moment of 1.31(4) μB at 1.7 K. © 2021 by Trans Tech Publications Ltd.
