- ItemEstimating readiological consequences using Java programming language(World Scientific, 1997-09-29) Crawford, J; Hayward, M; Harris, FF; Domel, RUSince its introduction in late 1995, the programming language Java has received wide coverage, focused mostly on Internet programming via Web browsers. Despite this, Java is a general-purpose language suitable for applications in a similar manner to C and Fortran. Due to its object oriented structure, its user interface capabilities and its cross-platform portability, Java has a much wider potential. At the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) a model to determine critical parameters affecting radioactive doses to humans following a release of radionuclides into the atmosphere is being developed. Java was chosen because of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) capabilities and its portability across computer platforms, which were a requirement for the application, called RadC0n © World Scientific
