Abstract: The effect of an applied toroidal magnetic field upon the rotamak configuration has been investigated. It has been found that the configuration can be maintained for at least several milliseconds but it has not been unambiguously established whether the addition of the toroidal field is beneficial or detrimental to the rotamak discharge.
