- ItemAnalytical description of growth of beryllium oxide during neutron irradiation(Australian Atomic Energy Commission, 1966-04) Pryor, AW; Hickman, BSA simple analytical model is developed which adequately describes the available data on the lattice and macroscopic growth of beryllium oxide under neutron irradiation. This model is then used for interpolation and extrapolation of existing data,, The model has a large number of adjustable parameters and it is emphasised that it does not necessarily bear any direct relation to the actual defect structure.
- ItemChemical reaction by laser radiation(Australian Institute of Physics, 1974-05-21) Pryor, AWNot available
- ItemComputer-controlled diffractometer(Australian Atomic Energy Commission, 1968-06) Ellis, PJ; Pryor, AWA computer-controlled neutron diffractometer is described for the collection of Bragg intensities from a single crystal, the computer is a PDP-8 with a store of 4096 12-bit words, the diffractometer is a "4-circle" instrument with the axes driven by pulsed stepping-motors, while axis movement is checked by light-beam markers. The programs include procedures for centring reflections, rotating about the scattering vector, calculating the setting angles in the "bisecting" and "parallel" positions, scanning over diffraction peaks, measuring backgrounds and generating ranges of Miller indices. Two similar diffractometers may be operated simultaneously.
- ItemConstant current source for automatic coulometric titrations(Australian Atomic Energy Commission, 1958-03) Palmer, AR; Pryor, AWA simple, but versatile constant current source for automatic coulometric titrations is described. The unit is suitable for use with a commercial automatic pH titrimeter and will accommodate wide variations of mains voltage and load resistance. Coulometric titrations may be carried out "fast" or "slow" with a choice of four current ranges (2-37 mA) for titrations up to or near the end point. A slow "1mA" range is available for approaching the end point and the titration of microgram amounts of material. The automatic pH titrimeter provides for automatic change fast to slow generation of reagent and for stopping the titration at selected end points. The utility of the equipment has been demonstrated by the estimation of chromium with electrogenerated ferrous iron. The unit should be suitable for many other coulometric titrations.
- ItemThe HIFAR oscillator(Melbourne University Press on behalf of The Australian Atomic Energy Commission, 1958-06-02) Nicholson. KP; Pryor, AWA description is given of a pile oscillator which will enable thermal absorption cross-section measurements to be made on HIFAR. The apparatus is in course of construction. The principal design factors are discussed, with particular reference to the effects of scattering by the sample, and the extension of the range of cross-section measurements to include moderators such as graphite and beryllium.
- ItemPrograms for the management and processing of neutron diffraction data(Australian Atomic Energy Commission, 1971-02) Elcombe, MM; Cox, GW; Pryor, AW; Moore, FHThis report describes the programs developed over about five years at Lucas Heights for the processing of crystallographic data from manual and computer-controlled diffractometers. The description, theory, and input and output formats are given, but not the program listings. Sections 2 and 3 describe the programs for handling, editing and reducing the 5-hole tape produced by manually-operated machines. Section 4 describes the revised versions of the programs associated with the computer-controlled diffractometers. It replaces the previous report AAEC-E-191 as an operating manual for these instruments. Section 5 describes the programs for sorting, absorption-correcting and evaluating standard deviations. Section 6 describes the Job-Control procedures.
